I have worked in the residential building industry for over 10 years. In my early career, I designed and constructed complete homes for the property market. My goal was always to build structurally sound houses — but a pivotal conversation shifted my entire business model.
A female client walked through one of my completed projects. She looked closely at the kitchen layout and told me plainly that it felt like it was “built by a man, for a man.”
She was entirely right. The kitchen met all building codes and looked fine on a floor plan. However, the appliance placement was awkward, the storage lacked flexibility, and it ignored the actual sequence of preparing a meal.
That feedback changed how I operate. I stopped focusing on general construction and dedicated my work entirely to kitchen functionality. I spent time studying cooking and baking workflows to understand exactly where a kitchen fails the person using it. Today, as dedicated kitchen renovation specialists, we design every space around the daily habits of the homeowner.
